In Memory of Jeffro

Snowmass Creek Outfitters was built alongside Jeff Groom, a fifth-generation native of the Roaring Fork Valley and the heart of what SCO is today. Jeff was most at home in the saddle, working horses, fixing fences, or helping every kid get into a saddle for the first time. If you saw a tall man in a Canadian tuxedo, you probably met Jeffro.

He had a rare feel for horses. People often ask how Snowmass Creek Outfitters ends up with such solid, dependable stock, and the answer is simple. The horses found Jeffro. He set the standard for how horses were chosen, trained, and cared for, and he believed that a great ride always starts with a great horse.

Jeffro built SCO with confidence and an expectation that things would be done right. The horses he trained, the safety practices he put in place, and the tone he set continue to shape SCO today.

Jeff’s legacy lives on every time a horse heads out on the trail. His standard remains, and his legacy of good horses will live on forever.

See you when the sun sets, Jeffro.

Amy Groom

Snowmass Creek Outfitters is co-owned and operated by Amy, a Colorado native who has called the Roaring Fork Valley home for two decades. After college, Amy settled in the valley, drawn to the land and lifestyle. Not long after, a chance meeting with a local cowboy, Jeffro, set the course for a life built around horses, family, and hard work.

Today, she leads SCO with a steady, hands-on approach and is committed to providing a safe and memorable riding experience.

Amy is raising their son, who is growing up immersed in ranch life, alongside her stepson, who is now building his own path. Both were shaped by long days at the ranch with Jeffro, rodeo nights, time spent learning responsibility, and a strong work ethic around horses. Family remains at the center of the business and its values.

Jeff often reminded those around him that “it’s just another day that ends in Y,” a simple outlook that continues to guide Amy as she moves the business forward.
